Does God really answer prayers?

Yes, the holy Quran confirms that God answers our prayers.

[The Quran 2:186]  When my servants ask you about Me, I am always near. I (God) answer their prayers when they pray to Me. The people shall respond to Me and believe in Me, in order to be guided.

God is very near to us.

[50:16]  We created the human, and we know what he whispers to himself. We are closer to him than his jugular vein.

But why we cannot hear from God instantly? We must remember that one God but billions of trillions of His creatures. So, communication system between God and His creatures must be more sophisticated than we could even imagine. And it is God Who solely decides how and when to communicate with His specific creature.

Imagine if God communicates with us in the same way we communicate with each other, everybody complains a lot, nobody would like to die and God would get billions of requests, complains and petitions in every microsecond! So, obviously God does not want this type of situation.

For example, in this respect one person complains in this way! “I don’t think God answers everyone’s prayers all the time. I know I have had prayers for other people that I thought would be answered but they wasn’t answered in fact I prayed for one individual for a healing and I expected a phone call telling me that he was getting better and the phone call I got was telling me that he died, today I still don’t understand why God didn’t heal him he was a good person and he did a lot of good things for other people.”

We can explain this case in the following way. The person in question was really good so God decides that he did enough good work to deserve paradise. Remember paradise is much better place than anywhere on this earth.

But to go to paradise one must die first. Therefore, God decides to terminate his life on earth. So, what we are apparently seeing bad could be very very good in reality!  God’s wisdom is beyond our imagination.
